EPIC: Our New Health Information System

KDH has Launched Epic!

Epic is a powerful digital health information system that uses the latest technology to securely store, organize, and access patient records while maintaining patient privacy.

Epic gives patients better access to their own health information and more seamless care from their providers:

  • With Epic’s private MyChart portal, patients can see their medical history, diagnostic test results, upcoming appointments, lists of allergies and medications, and even educational materials. Learn more about MyChart.
  • Epic gives the patient’s care team the information they need at their fingertips and is proven to reduce wait times, length of stay in hospital, and readmission.

KDH is part of the ‘Atlas Alliance’ of nine healthcare organizations in Eastern Ontario who use the Epic digital health information system. All of the hospitals in the Atlas Alliance have a seamless transition of patient information across sites, no matter where patients access care. This means that you tell your story once, and wherever you go in the network your care team is connected and ready to help!

The other members of the Atlas Alliance are –

  • Deep River and District Hospital
  • Hawkesbury and District General Hospital
  • Renfrew Victoria Hospital
  • St. Francis Memorial Hospital (Barry’s Bay)
  • The Ottawa Hospital
  • The Ottawa Hospital Academic Family Health Team
  • The University of Ottawa Heart Institute
  • Winchester District Memorial Hospital

“I’d like to share about the beautiful experience I had in your ER last week. To begin, the woman at the COVID screening station was so kind and understanding. She even allowed my five-year-old and myself to sit outside for our lunch, so I could give him some fresh air and room to move around. Our time with Dr Brisebois was possibly the best experience I’ve ever had with a physician. He was so kind and patient. He listened to my concerns as a parent. He validated our experience and shared plenty of information, and was just a rare gem in the medical field.”
