KDH announces its 2018/19 Board of Directors

Kemptville District Hospital (KDH) is pleased to announce that Robert Morais has been elected Chair of its Board of Directors, and the Board has welcomed three new members: Jeff Nolan, Andrew Vignuzzi, and Amy E. Yee.  The elections took place at the hospital’s June 28, 2018 Annual General Meeting,

Morais, who is the cofounder and Managing Director of the management consulting firm Strata KBD Inc.  as well as Chief Financial Officer of the Connelly Group of Companies, has more than 25 years of diverse business and volunteer experience.  He succeeds outgoing Board Chair Karen Cooper, a distinguished lawyer who practices charity and not-for-profit law.  Cooper continues to serve on the Board as Past Chair.

Morais expressed his appreciation of the newly elected Directors: “We are so fortunate Jeff, Andrew and Amy have chosen to make KDH the beneficiary of their volunteer time; each brings unique experience and expertise to the skills-based KDH Board.”

Jeff Nolan

Jeff Nolan brings an in-depth understanding of technology and its alignment with business operations, gained over 20 years working in the high tech industry in both Canada and the United States. A senior sales and operations leader, he is currently a Business Development Executive with IBM Ottawa, helping departments across the Government of Canada with large IT project procurements. Previously, Nolan was with Mitel Ottawa, where he held a series of progressively responsible positions, culminating in his role as Global Vice President, Mitel-Connected Guests. Nolan is currently a lecturer at Ottawa’s Algonquin College. He has been part of the North Grenville community since 2007.

When asked why he chose to serve on the KDH Board, Nolan answered, “I like to be part of growth processes and I see the hospital growing and expanding its services in the community. Since my family and I utilize the services of the hospital, I would like to help as it continues to grow.”

Andrew Vignuzzi

Andrew Vignuzzi is an entrepreneurial senior technology and operations leader with expertise in organizational transformation. He brings to the Board a wealth of experience in technology and innovation.  Vignuzzi was recently appointed Vice President of Information Technology Infrastructure at Canopy Growth in Smiths Falls, Ontario. Previous roles include Chief Executive Officer at Magellan Luxury Hotels, Winnipeg, Partner at VenGrowth, Ottawa, Senior Product Manager at Nortel, Ottawa, and Project Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces, where he served for 12 years. Vignuzzi holds an MBA from the University of Ottawa, a Master of Science, Engineering, from Queen’s University, and a Bachelor of Engineering, Engineering Physics, from the Royal Military College of Canada. He is a resident of Burritts Rapids, Ontario.

Vignuzzi explained his rationale for making a commitment to the KDH Board as follows: “I am very happy to be part of any organization that wants to be world class, like KDH. I believe my skills in helping bridge business, technology and finance can benefit the KDH Board. Plus, the timing is right for me to be more active in the community, and KDH is so central to it.”

Amy E. Yee

Amy E. Yee brings to the KDH Board a decade of global industry experience in business design, design strategy, digital strategy and user experience. She is currently the Chief Digital Officer at the Health Standards Organization (HSO) and its affiliate, Accreditation Canada, where she leads multiple teams including enterprise digital platforms, IT services, infrastructure, marketing, communications, and digital transformation of the stakeholder experience. Prior to joining HSO, Yee traveled the world working closely with CEOs, business leaders and their customers to map exciting business opportunities to powerful strategies and digital solutions.  She is an in-demand speaker, recently keynoting conferences in Japan, Canada and across the US, and is the co-host of The Weekly Stand-up on Blockchain Radio, with listeners in more than 60 countries.  Yee has more than 12 years’ combined experience as a director on non-profit boards, and in 2015, she won a Forty Under 40 Award in her hometown of Ottawa. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering, Electrical, from Carleton University.

“I’m so pleased to be joining the KDH Board,” Yee commented.  “Our work at HSO and Accreditation Canada is all about people who are passionate about achieving quality health services for all. I look forward to working with KDH as it continues to empower people at the local level to save and improve lives.”

In addition to the three new Board members elected at the AGM, the following current Directors were reelected: Carolyn Chisholm, Peter Currie, and Jim Neubauer.  With Robert Morais’ appointment as Board Chair, Peter Currie was elected Vice Chair, and Director Stephen Saslove was elected Treasurer.

The KDH Board has also welcomed two new ex-officio members: Dr. Zahra Saleh, new President of KDH’s Medical Staff, and Brenda Steacy, the new President of the KDH Auxiliary.

At the same time, the Board said farewell and thank you to Directors Gayle Poapst and Connie Parsons. Poapst served the KDH Board as an elected Director for three consecutive three-year terms, starting in 2009. Her committee work included acting as Chair and then Vice Chair of the Governance Committee, in 2014/15 and 2016/17, respectively. Connie Parsons became an ex-officio member of the KDH Board in September, 2016 when she was elected President of the KDH Auxiliary. She continues as an active member of the Auxiliary, serving as Volunteer Coordinator.

KDH’s new Board Chair, Robert Morais, ended the proceedings on June 28 with words of gratitude for outgoing Chair, Karen Cooper: “During Karen’s tenure we have benefited from her strong and thoughtful leadership as we expanded our services into new outpatient clinical spaces while maintaining our exemplary rating – the highest standing of hospital accreditation.”
