KDH temporarily closes Emergency Department due to I.T. disruption
October 20, 2021
Due to an I.T. disruption at the hospital that began early this morning, the Kemptville District Hospital (KDH) Emergency Department will be temporarily closing at 7am tomorrow (October 21, 2021).
Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 911 and paramedics will transport them to the nearest emergency department for care.
The decision to close the Emergency Department was not taken lightly due to KDH’s unwavering commitment to provide much needed medical services to the communities it serves. After careful deliberation it was determined that it would not be possible to provide the highest quality and safe patient care in the Emergency Department in the absence of I.T. systems. The Emergency Department will reopen when systems are restored.
In addition to the Emergency Department closure, outpatient x-rays and ultrasounds are currently on hold. Day surgeries and total joint replacement surgeries will continue as normal, although there may be some delays in registering patients, as this is being done on paper rather than in the computer system.
We will provide updates as new information emerges. Thank you for your patience while we are working hard to get our systems back online.
