KDH reopens Emergency Department in collaboration with local hospital partners
Friday, October 22, 2021 | Updated Saturday, October 23, 2021
Kemptville District Hospital (KDH) is pleased to announce that its Emergency Department has reopened.
Although IT issues remain and the hospital continues to operate under a “Code Grey”, collaboration with local hospital partners has enabled the resumption of Emergency Department services.
For local residents, it is important to note that, in light of the Code Grey situation, ambulances will be bringing only critical patients to KDH; all non-critical patients will be transported to other neighbouring hospitals.
“We are grateful to our hospital partners for their eagerness to be part of this solution,” said Frank Vassallo, KDH’s Chief Executive Officer. “It enables us to fulfill our mandate of providing emergency care to residents of North Grenville and beyond.”
As communicated in an earlier release, KDH temporarily closed its Emergency Department on October 21 as a result of a hospital-wide IT shutdown caused by a cybersecurity incident.
Investigation of the incident continues and KDH remains committed to communicating as much information as possible to the public, patients, employees and other interested parties as the situation evolves.
