KDH Diabetes Education Program presents guest speaker Dr. Shelly Stack on July 12, 2018
The Kemptville District Hospital (KDH) Diabetes Education and Support Program is pleased to present Dr. Shelly Stack as a guest speaker on the subject of “Diabetes and Oral Health” on July 12, 2018 at 7 pm in the hospital’s Courtyard Lounge.
Dr. Stack’s presentation will describe how a healthy mouth and diabetes control are a two-way street. Dental health is important for everyone, but especially so for people with diabetes. Poorly managed blood glucose (sugar) levels can lead to severe toothaches, dry mouth, periodontal disease, or other dental problems. Dr. Stack will discuss appropriate dental care, the benefits of, and how often you should have dental checkups, and how to prevent dental problems.
Dr. Stack achieved her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from The Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Western Ontario in London, following a 25-year career as a Sign Language Interpreter in Washington, D.C. and Rochester, N.Y. She made the life-altering decision to pursue dentistry to fulfill a passion she had held since working at her family’s dental office as a teenager. Dr. Stack practices at Yazdani Dental, in both the Kemptville and Kanata offices.
This special event is open to the public. Clients of the KDH Diabetes Education and Support Program have received a personal invitation; their family and friends are encouraged to attend as well, along with anyone who has an interest in the topic.
